Crusaders & Friars Together!
What a great afternoon at Providence College as Holy Cross alumni gathered at Schneider Arena to watch the Providence vs. UConn hockey game from a private suite.
Before the puck dropped, our group enjoyed a special behind-the-scenes tour of the Ruane Friar Development Center.
Thank you to the Holy Cross alumni, along with Fr. Jim, President, Dr Thomas C. Pellegrino, John Sullivan, and Duane Gereski, who joined us for a fun day of hockey, friendship, and Crusader camaraderie.
Crusaders! What college should we visit next for our next alumni gathering? Let us know your thoughts!
As we close out the winter sports season, we want to introduce you to our swim captains - Lily '26 & Dante '26
On Monday at 6:00 p.m., Holy Cross High School will host a prayer service for our classmate, Matt Collins Jr. '26, who recently experienced a medical emergency. Friends, family, and members of the community are welcome to attend. Gift cards for everyday needs, such as gas, groceries, Uber Eats, or DoorDash, are greatly appreciated to help support Matt and his family during this difficult time.
Our student volunteers celebrated #ReadAcrossAmerica by visiting Maloney and Wendell Cross Schools in Waterbury. They spent time reading with the students and doing fun activities together. It was a wonderful way to share the joy of reading with our local younger learners.
The Watertown/Pomperaug/Holy Cross ice hockey team took the 1 seed in the last 30 seconds of OT. This was such an emotional game for the players, coaches and families. We continue to pray for #19.
The Holy Cross High School students of the Mayoral Youth Advisory Committee spent the day at the state capital. They toured the building, visited the Senate, and sat in on commerce and labor committee’s public hearings. They got an up close and personal look at our state government in action.
The Holy Cross High School community’s prayers and thoughts are with our ice hockey student-athlete, Matt Collins, who collapsed on the ice at Taft School. He remains in critical condition and is surrounded by his family. Please join us in keeping Matt and his loved ones in your thoughts and prayers as he continues his recovery. Matt is more than a student-athlete. He is a valued member of the Holy Cross family. #MCStrong
The Marketing Interns spent a day in New York City where they toured the Paley Center of Media and visited St. Patrick’s Cathedral. It was a day of fun and reflection.

Holy Cross High School mourns the passing of James J. McDonald, who passed away on January 9, 2026.
James was a beloved member of the Crusader community as a coach, parent, and the brother of Timothy McDonald, former President of Holy Cross High School. In 1976, he became the first boys soccer coach in school history and went on to lead the program for 28 years. During his remarkable tenure, he guided his teams to 12 league championships and earned numerous local and state coaching honors.
We are grateful for Mr. McDonald’s lasting legacy and the countless lives he touched through his dedication to Holy Cross High School. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and loved ones during this difficult time.
