It’s a big day for a Holy Cross Legend who is being named Italian Mayor of the Year by Waterbury UNICO. Our students wanted to give Sr. Pat Jamele a congratulatory send off before the ceremony. 💚💛💚💛

Through our Freshmen Foundations program, the Class of 2030 explored important lessons for life at Holy Cross and beyond from social media rules and etiquette to understanding friendship, working as a team, building relationships, and more. Dr. Thomas C. Pellegrino met up with Jonathan Retartha '03 who along with brother Ryan '03, works at the University of Notre Dame in their advancement division and with strategic operations.
A wonderful trip to the University of Notre Dame with our Brothers and colleagues from the Moreau and Midwest Provinces, including time with Br. John Paige, CSC. Dr. Pellegrino and Board Chair Jack Senich, '84 capped off their time at dinner with five amazing Holy Cross alumni now enjoying their college years in South Bend! Also, a special visit with Jonathan Ritartha, Class of 2003. The Holy Cross mission and family of our school is alive and well in South Bend!

Our family-friendly trick or treating event returns!
Holy Cross students are involved in community service projects throughout the year, but our annual Day of Service brings our entire school community together for a day of giving back.
Students spent the day serving local organizations/locations throughout Waterbury, including St. Vincent de Paul’s Food Pantry & Thrift Store, Our Lady of Mount Carmel School, Children’s Community School, St. Mary Magdalen School, the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception, Holy Land, NERC, United Way, Brass City Harvest, Mattatuck Museum, YMCA, Park Central, and Fulton Park.
We are grateful for the opportunity to work alongside so many organizations that make a difference in our community. What a great day to give back to Waterbury!
Our ECE Physics students participated in the UConn ECE 2026 Cardboard Boat Race, a statewide competition that put their classroom knowledge to the test. Students calculated buoyancy, crew capacity, and wall height, then put their engineering skills to work, triple-reinforcing their cardboard boats to keep them strong and watertight. From calculations to construction to the race, our students turned physics into a hands-on challenge!

Holy Cross alumna Lauren Torello ’07 is raising funds for her scholarship fund through the 1900 Club, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting children and families in our local community.
For more than 40 years, the 1900 Club has helped provide scholarships to local high school seniors as they pursue their next chapter. Lauren is proud to continue that tradition of giving back and helping students achieve their goals.

We gathered today for our first Friday Mass of the school year with Father May from the Archdiocese of Hartford. In the middle of a busy school day, Mass gives our students a chance to pause, be still, and make space for quiet reflection, both physically and spiritually.

Our current student leaders traveled to the University of Notre Dame for the annual Holy Cross Student Leadership Conference! Throughout the conference, they explored what it means to lead in the Holy Cross tradition; grounded in faith, guided by our shared values, and committed to serving others.

Another successful summer volleyball camp in the books!
Congratulations to Braydon Hutwagner '28 on an outstanding season of achievement! Braydon was named CHSCA All-State, earned NVL Individual Champion honors, and was selected to the First Team All-NVL. His success continued beyond the high school season as he qualified for and competed in the CSGA Connecticut Amateur and the CSGA Palmer Cup.
Braydon also represented Holy Cross on a national stage, competing in the Future Masters Invitational in Dothan, Alabama, against many of the top 15–18-year-old golfers in the country. Congratulations, Braydon!
We welcomed our incoming freshmen and their families to campus for a special walk-through experience, giving them the opportunity to get familiar with the halls, meet members of our community, and get a head start on the beginning of their high school journey.
We enjoyed inviting students from the local area for Coach Mike Wilson’s basketball summer camps. It’s always inspiring to see the next generation of student-athletes learn from one of the best coaches in the area.
