Holy Cross Surpasses Red Cross Goal with Successful Blood Drive
May 2nd, 2025
Holy Cross High School, under the leadership of Theology Teacher, Stephanie Durbin's Catholic Social Teachings class, hosted a successful Blood Drive on May 2, 2025.
A total of 50 faculty and staff members registered to donate blood, and the school collected 38 pints—exceeding the Red Cross’s goal of 25 pints for the drive. Of the 38 pints collected, 36 came from first-time donors.
"We were also fortunate to have 28 students volunteer their time to assist with setup, cleanup, and running the recovery area throughout the day," said Mrs. Durbin.
Each Catholic Social Teachings class at Holy Cross selected a project they felt passionate about, with the goal of making a positive impact. The group of students who led this Blood Drive chose to focus on health care, which inspired them to organize the event and help save lives.
Thanks to these combined efforts, Holy Cross was able to help save an estimated 38 to 114 lives. We are so proud of our Crusader community for coming together to make a meaningful impact.
